Hello,
I recently had an interview with Touro College in BAyshore, NY. THis has been my 5th interview so fr, and it actually was very different. USually the schools give you a tour around the school give you time to speak with present students, and then you get the interview. The Interview at Bayshore wa sjust an interview. It was very relaxing the interviewers were very nice and made me feel at ease to be myself. So I recieved two days later, a response that I was accepted! I really was fairly shocked as to how quick this process went compared to the other schools. I have been doing my research on the school , and have seen Alot of scruitiny regarding the school being under investigation for its participation in recieving bribes from students to change grades and falsify degrees. I AM really skeptical about this school.I wanted to know if anyone who went to or knows someone who went to this school can give me some honest advice! This is my second time applying to PA school, and I really didnt know what I was going to do if I didnt get into a school thi stime around. And now that I finally get in, it just seems funny. I dont want my ambition to cloud my judgemnet , especialy since I havent heard any good things about the Bayshore Touro PA program, and I am very vey nervous. i wa stold I have only 4 weeks to respond, and I havent heard from the other 10 schools I applied to yet. What should I DO???

in east meadow, New York 101 months ago | Well I applied last year and wasn't accepted. I applied this year, and I was scared but finally got accepted. I know they only take in 27 students or so and there are couple hundred applicants since its the only bachelor's program in the tri-state area and NYU closed its Associates program. I say talk to the reps or visit the Open Houses and that'll give you a better idea. Downstate has a great reputation and perhaps why it maybe more competetive. |

I was wondering how your interview went .. Were they friendly? Intimidating ? And lastly if you don't mind what were your grades for the required pre reqs (this can help me know where I stand in getting a chance at acceptance). Thank you!! |
in East Hampton, New York 39 months ago | I had interview with professor Paterson I don't believe he teaches there anymore. He was very nice. They do ask you the general questions like why ultrasound? And there was a written part of interview and the question was a senerio what would you do if you were working as a sonographer and a patient came late and your supervisor wasnot there would you take patient in? And why? Something like that. My grades were really good 3.8 for the prerequisites. I did get accepted and graduated. There was other students that didn't do so well to get in so don't let that stop you. Good luck |
in Staten Island, New York 39 months ago | Awesome ! Congrats to you, have you found job placement and how is the field now that you're out there? Did getting a bachelors degree make a difference in the salary you receive ? |
in East Hampton, New York 39 months ago | No having a BS does not make a difference in pay but the program has a really good reputation. I had problems getting hired bc I live all the way in east hampton there is only one hospital and its 45 mins away and not hiring. I do recommend working with an agency which is what I did bc it keeps you scanning. Check out Winston staffing. I take jobs through them. I do have to say the program does not tech you how to scan and I believe everyone that went there will agree. They teach you book smarts but zero scanning they believe you will learn that in the field. And I believe not knowing how to scan prevents you from getting hired. Boces has a really good program and heard they teach you how to scan well. But it was inportant for me to get a bachlors incase I decide to go back to school. |
in Staten Island, New York 39 months ago | Okay yes I have an associates degree and I want to further my education I thought that with a bachelors there would be a higher pay. Would you then say that the field was worth pursuing.. I heard about Long Island university in Brooklyn have you heard anything about their ways of teaching ? |
in Patchogue, New York 39 months ago | If there are any ultrasound students or techs here that would benefit from an ultrasound model, I am open to being a volunteer in the Tristate area. Any scans that would help someone improve or learn new areas are OK. This might help some of you that aren't able to get enough experience scanning. |
